A Different Dress

This coming Saturday is my 20th high school reunion. Yes, I am THAT old!

Last week I went dress shopping and after trying on 40 dresses I found one I could live with. I was never really happy, but being pressed for time I settled on that one.

Well, this past Monday I went out to find a cute purse and some jewelry for the "live with" dress. With the hope that maybe with the right bag, shoes, & jewelry I would start to like the dress more. I get to the mall at 10:00 and only the major stores are open, all the rest open at 10:30. I'm looking around wasting time when a dress caught my eye. It was a dress that I would of never thought I could wear, but thought what they heck I've got nothing but time to waste. Plus I could use a good laugh.

I tried it on and OMG it fit perfect..... it was THE dress....... but I put it back because I already had a dress. I finished up my shopping, came home and couldn't stop thinking about THAT dress. I slept on it and all day yesterday I was still thinking about THAT dress.

So, I made a deal with myself..... I would go back to the mall today and IF that dress was still there in my size I would buy it..... if not then I would just be happy with the one I already had.

I got to the mall, went straight to the rack THE dress was hanging on and....... it was there!

Now I'm really looking forward to the reunion!

Dress Shopping

Today I went dress shopping for my 20th class reunion, that is a week from this coming Saturday.

Yes, I have put it off forever.

I'm not a fan of dress shopping..... period! I have a hard time finding a dress that doesn't make me a) look like a grandma or b) all of the dresses are made for someone much taller then me.

I must of tried on 40 dresses today and I found one that I can live with. It's black..... I always buy black. I tried on other colors...... purple, blue, even red but none of them looked good. Loved the way the top part of the purple dress was cut..... hated the bottom part. Same with all the others..... always liked one part but hated the other.

Why can't I just wear jeans?

Sigh..... I hate being short!

Now I need to find shoes. I found two pairs I liked. Tired them both on with the dress when I got home........ hate them both. So, they will be going back and the search will begin again.

Why must I have wide feet? It makes finding cute, sexy, comfortable shoes so hard.

The light gray dividers seen in the second picture, belong in the next bag and I didn't notice them until I uploaded the picture.

The Weekend

I'm completely aware that a new weekend is upon us, but I forgot to post about Sexy Stud's weekend home. I blame PMS, which would probably account for my mood lately.

anyway......

Friday Sexy Stud and I went out to lunch and then went to Target & Home Depot. We are looking for a wall like structure to put around two sides of the hot tub so we can have some sort of privacy when the neighbors are outside. I've seen what I want in a catalog but the price is out of the range I want to spend. So it looks like I will have to get my Dad to build it for me. That night I grilled steaks, potatoes and some corn on the cob. Which for corn in May it was REALLY good! After dinner Sexy Stud took B-Monkey to the store to get the game he has been saving for.

Saturday I talked Sexy Stud into edging the walk ways , something he said he would do last fall but never did. Only thing I had to do was clean up the mess he made..... no problem. While he did that I went around and popped out all the dandelions out of the yard. I put down weed & feed a few weeks ago, but it's not working fast enough so I did it the old fashion way. Of course I got sunburned.... when will I ever learn!? For dinner that night I grilled pork tenderloin on a cedar plank. The smell of cedar on the grill is heavenly ! Along with that I grilled garlic red skinned potatoes and more corn on the cob. That evening we just hung out on the front porch watching the lake and finished the bottle of wine we started with dinner.

Sunday ,Sexy Stud was going to leave, but when he woke up he checked the weather down in Arkansas and saw it was going to rain all day Monday so he decided to stay another day. Fine by me! That afternoon we went to a birthday party for a friends son who turned 13. Had a good time.... yummy food and conversations always make for a good time.

Monday Sexy Stud left around 9 AM which just left me and the kids for the holiday. Which was pretty much uneventful. I grilled some Italian sausage, made my grandma's fried cream corn with the left over corn on the cob and that was pretty much it for the holiday.

I think that's pretty much it. Better late then never I suppose....lol

Sale Queen !

When people come over to my house they are always a little shocked to see all the high end, name brand stuff in my house. But what they don't know is , that except for a few items I have NEVER paid full price for them.

My "secret" is that I shop at Tuesday Mornings and T J Maxx for 90% of the stuff I have in my house. Name brand items on the cheep !

Case in point- I have been searching for a white pitcher , mostly to hold flowers in, but I'm picky........ VERY PICKY. So I headed out to Tuesday Mornings today ( it's a weekly thing) and I'm walking around looking at all the stuff when I find this-

This oh so yummy and just what I was searching for white pitcher ! So I'm checking it out to make sure it looks good. You never know what shape things can be in so you REALLY need to check them out. I turned it over to check for the brand and-

Do you see that there? That's a Ralph Lauren ! Did ya see the "suggested" price? $93.00 ! I don't care how much I loved it I would NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS PAY THAT MUCH MONEY! So I turned it over again to check for the price and........ wait for it..........

Yes, my lovely blog readers I paid 20.00 ( and change) for a Ralph Lauren pitcher that was marked $93.00 !

But wait there is more. Since Tuesday Mornings is just about next door to T J Maxx I went over there to have a look around.

First I checked out the purses- nothing that spoke to me

Next onto the kitchen section- nothing spoke to me there either. Same with the bath section.

Onto the bedding- Check out the sheets...... a set caught my eye...... This will go with my bedding I think. Turn it over to check out the thread count......... 800 WOW yummy...... lets see the price................... $59.99........ regular price $299.98.

Hello Lover you are coming home with me and mama is going to sleep like a queen tonight !

So my blog readers if you ever happen to be in my house don't be jealous of all the stuff I have....... I'm just a good bargain shopper that's all.

Jeans, Jeans, Jeans

Have I told you about my favorite pair of jeans?

Have I told you about how flipping hard it is for me to find jeans that fit?


I haven't well..... then I really must do that now.

You see I'm short on one end..... That means I'm only 5 foot 2 inch.... OK quit the short people jokes I know I'm short , but I was a full INCH taller than my mom so :0P I'm also shall we say fluffy..... that means I wear a size 14. Because of these two factors finding jeans that fit isn't always the easiest thing to do.

If I find ones that fit in the length half of my ass hangs out. While The Husband loves this I hardly doubt that the rest of the world wants to see my ass. On the other hand if I find a pair where half my ass isn't hanging out they are to long in the length. Now I don't know about you, but when your spending $50.00 on a pair of jeans the last thing I really want to do is go spend more money to have half of them cut off. Just doesn't make any sense to me.

Anyway a few months ago I was at the mall buying a baby gift for some close friends of ours. I was having it engraved and they told me it would be about an hour. Since I had an hour to kill I went window shopping. Along the way I walked by Lane Bryant, I hadn't been in there in a long time so I decided to check them out.

I had heard about their Right Fit jeans and how magical they were, but up until that point I had never tried on a pair.

I checked out their tags:

Blue: If your current jeans gape at the back , have to be cinched at the waist - nope not me

Yellow:If your current jeans fit at the waist but are baggy, fit at the hip/thighs but have to be unbuttoned- maybe depends on the jeans

Red: If your current jeans ride down in the back and have pockets that gape when sitting- BINGO! We have a winner.

So I check out their size conversion chart because these run sizes 1, 2, 3, and so on. Yes I know these are fluffy girls sizes 1, 2 & 3 but let a fluffy girl have her ego boost M'kay? !

I grabbed a size 2 thinking that was about the size I needed and then I noticed they also came in Petite. Hello lover come to mama. Up until a year or so ago I thought they only made petite sizes for short shinny as a rail girls but they also make them for us fluffy girls. Did you know that? You didn't ? Well now you do.

I walked into the dressing room with my size 2 petites and tired them on.

Length- perfect

Fit's in the hip and thigh - perfect

Ass- While it wasn't hanging out it looked like I had a load of something in there and it wasn't pretty.

Total buzz kill !

As I quietly take off these magical jeans a thought came to me..... dare I try a size 1 ?!

I head back over to the rack and find the size 1, not having much hope I go back to the dressing room to try them on.

Length- still perfect

Hips and thighs- still perfect

But the ass, what about the ass? I turned around and not only wasn't half my ass showing but the load of what ever was also gone.

At last I found a pair of jeans that fit! I tell ya ladies it was like having an orgasm WHILE eating chocolate !

I walked out of the dressing room and bought not 1, not 2 but 3 pairs of those jeans. Because surely if one pair of these jeans makes me feel like having an orgasm while eating chocolate then 3 would be like having an orgasm while eating chocolate and having a back massage.

So there you have. That's the story of how I found my favorite pair of jeans.
