Unplugged

>> Tuesday, January 4, 2011

So, where have I been these looooooooooong months ?

I "unplugged" myself from my computer. I won't bore you with the details, but it was a much needed break from my computer.

I will be back here, just not daily, probably more like weekly. I think that was part of my problem- I was running out of stuff to write about and it was all sounding like a repeat from the day before.

Lots of stuff has happened these last few months, but the biggest one is that I turned 40. Yep, the BIG 40! A new chapter in my life has started and I embraced it with open arms. A friend told me that I was the only woman she knew that took turning 40 so gracefully, that she hopes when she turns 40 she can react the same way. I've never looked at big ( 20's 30's, 40's etc) birthdays as being scary. I've always looked at them as being new chapters in my life. My 20's were filled with getting married and having children. My 30's were filled with moves, job changes and uncertainty. While my 40's have just begun, I'm looking forward to seeing how the story unfolds.

So, here's to New Life Chapters and a New Year !

Up To

>> Friday, July 16, 2010

I thought for sure that after the graduation open house party and the fourth of July, that things would start to slow down around here...... boy was I wrong !

I've been busy studying and PASSING my motorcycle permit test. Now I can ride my scooter outside of my subdivision without fear of being asked to see my permit. Next up my ABATE class so I can get my license....... oh joy!

I've also been busy getting ready to enter 4 of my photos into a local contest. My living room is filled with piles of photo supplies, so I can mount and display my pics.

The living room is going to get even fuller after today, when the shipment of Michael's dorm supplies arrives today. So hard to believe that in what 5 weeks my "baby" will get heading off to college !

Speaking of my "baby" he turned 19 this last Wednesday. His last teenage year! Where did the time go?

Oh well no rest for this woman today.

Beep, Beep

>> Sunday, July 11, 2010

Well, I rode Scarlet for the first time around my neighborhood....... and it WAS SO MUCH FUN!

At first I just rode it around my yard. Barry said to practice in the grass first so if I fell I might not get hurt so much. So, that's what I did..... I put an entire mile on it just riding around my yard and my yard is not that big. I looked like a fool riding it with my helmet on in the grass, but I didn't care I was having so much fun.

After I fed Justin his lunch, I was going to ride around in the yard some more, but I got a little brave and took a ride down to the softball field at the end of my block. I got there, turned around and came back. I was going to do that over and over again, but when I got to the field the second time I just kept going around the block. I ended up putting 9 more miles on it that day !

That scooter is so much fun to ride. That's the most fun I've had by myself in years !

Up next taking the test to get my motorcycle permit. so I can ride outside of my neighborhood. Then in Sept. I take my motorcycle ( scooter) safety class so I can get my license.

Look out world there's a new scooter babe in town !!!!

Meet Scarlet

>> Wednesday, July 7, 2010

Meet Scarlet- She was a early ( by 2 months) 40th birthday present from Barry. We picked her up yesterday.

I've been wanting a scooter for sometime now, to do quick trips to the grocery store, etc. and I guess my 40th birthday was a good excuse to break down and buy me one. I really wanted a Vespa, but sadly no Vespa dealers in my part of the state. So, he did some research and really liked the specs on this Honda model. We checked it out in person yesterday and Barry gave her two thumbs up, so I signed on the line and she was mine.

50 MPH- so I can ride on the back roads without much problems

90 MPG- GREAT gas mileage !

Fully AUTOMATIC !

Plus storage under the seat. We ordered a top box ( trunk) so I'll have even more storage once that is installed.

Right now I'm a little ummmmm ..... balance challenged but I'll figure it all out I'm sure. The funny part is because it's over 50 cc ( whatever that means) I have to get my motorcycle permit/license in order to ride it LOL ! I also need to take a motorcycle safety class, which they now offer scooter classes, so I won't have to learn how to ride and shift lol.

Well, I'm off to replace the "No parking except for Dad " sign with a " No parking except for Mom" sign.

A Leap of Faith

>> Thursday, July 1, 2010

I'm taking a huge leap of faith and entering 4 of my photos into a local (judged) contest. I've entered photo contest before, but those have been online. This will be the first time I've entered them locally and it scares the crap out of me.

Picking which photos to enter was painstakingly hard. The ones I really wanted to enter didn't fall into the contests categories. So, I had to go through ALL of my photos and pick ones that did fit..... not an easy task to say the least.

Wish me luck and pass the tequila ........ :0)

Back To Normal

>> Monday, June 28, 2010

It has been a CRAZY few months around here to say the least, but things can now get back to normal........ at least for a little while.

On June 9 Michael and Kristin graduated from High School. ( * side note they are "adults" now so I will be using their real names from now on) Fourteen years of school, starting with pre-school, all leading up to this moment. I was/am so proud of those two!

I only cried twice during all of it too ! Once when the Superintendent asked all of the moms and grandmas to stand up and then again after it was over with and I saw the two of them together.

Last week Kristin signed up for all of her classes and then a few days later we took Michael down state to sign up for his.

Kristin will be staying home and going to I. U. N. for radiology. Michael will be going to Vincennes for art/graphic design.

Last Saturday was the Open House- good times! Yummy food, YUMMY local beer , and lots of family and friends to share in our joy.

I have so much more to say , but my brain is still mush lol

I hope all is well in your part of the world.
