Suck It Up & Deal With It

Suck It Up & Deal With It is a saying I use a lot around this house when dealing with the kids.

Like when one of my 3 high school age kids puts off doing a report, that they had WEEKS to work on ,until the very last minute. They will of course whine about how long it's taking them to finish and I will say something like this.....

You know you had weeks to work on this and I reminded you of this EVERY day and YOU made the choice to put it off until now. So, SUCK IT UP & DEAL WITH IT.

OR, when one or all of the kids puts off cleaning their room(s) for days and then finally get around to do it. They will of course whine about how long it's taking them. I'll say something like this.....

If you would clean up your room every day like I've told you a MILLION times, it wouldn't take you all day long to get it clean. SO, SUCK IT UP & DEAL WITH IT.

Then there was this morning. Daughter K worked last night and didn't get home until 11:30. I knew she was going to be a bear to wake up today. I started at 6:15, went back in a 6:30 and she says " Mom can I please go into school an hour late I didn't get much sleep last night"

I said " I went to bed the same time as you and have been up since 5:30"

Her : " But you don't have to go to school today"

Me: " Listen lady your Dad worked until 2 AM Tuesday and went to work at his normal time the same day( the truth), welcome to real life so SUCK IT UP & DEAL WITH IT "

She grumbled but got up and went to school.

So SUCK IT UP & DEAL WITH IT * wink, wink *
