During our New Year's Eve celebration I enjoyed a wonderful bottle of wine. Luna Beberide- Mencia 2007, from Bierzo, Spain. http://www.lunabeberide.es/?lang=en

The Story of Discovery :

Bierzo, located in the northwest corner of Spain, is an almost forgotten wine region that is undergoing a renaissance. It has attracted some of the country's best wine producers deploying modern vineyard management and technology to fashion exceptional wines from the obscure Mencia grape. the region is characterized by incredibly steep hillside vineyards, distinctive terriors, and countless ancient vineyards with are sheltered by surrounding mountain ranges

Dark ruby-colored, it exhibits a fragrant nose of crushed flowers (violets), mineral, and blueberry. This is followed by an elegant, medium-bodied wine with a velvety palate-feel, plenty of spicy blue fruits, and light, well-integrated tannin.

If you haven't yet discovered the wines of Spain, I highly recommend Luna Beberide-Mencia. Priced at $20.00 (US) it's a wonderful wine that won't break the budget.
